A Destination Indian Wedding at the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island | Aditi & Shival

Some places stay with you. Amelia Island is one of mine — the beach is immaculate, the sand impossibly soft, and every time I go back it feels like the first time.

In September 2021, Aditi & Shival brought everyone they love to this little corner of Florida. Nearly every guest was from out of town. That’s what made it perfect — a true destination wedding, where the whole celebration becomes its own world for a few days.

It was intimate and grand at the same time. Beach mornings, a ballroom night. And a crowd that came ready to celebrate.

Getting Ready

I love the quiet of getting ready — the in-between hours before the day takes off. Aditi in the mirror, henna on her hands, everything about to begin.

The Little Details

Personalized wedding coconuts engraved with the couple's names and wedding date

It’s always the little things I remember most. The coconuts engraved with their names and wedding date. The tent strung with lights glowing against the night. These are the details that tell you what kind of wedding this was — personal, thought through, full of love.

The Baraat

Then the groom arrived — not on a horse, but in a blue Polaris Slingshot, grinning ear to ear. This is what I mean when I say this crowd came ready to celebrate.

The Ceremony — Beach Mandap

The mandap stood right on the beach, flowers everywhere, the ocean behind it. The antarpat — the red veil between them — dropped, and there they were.

Portraits in Golden Light

We stole away to the beach as the light turned gold. This is my favorite part of any wedding day — just the two of them, no audience, the day finally quiet for a moment.

The Reception

And then the ballroom. Tropical centerpieces, gold chairs, a dance floor that never emptied. Cold sparks, fog, a violinist — their first dance looked like something out of a film.

What This Wedding Taught Me

2021 was the year destination weddings showed me what they’re really about. It’s not the venue — though Amelia Island doesn’t hurt. It’s what happens when everyone travels to be in one place: the outside world falls away, and for a few days, it’s just your people.

Aditi & Shival’s wedding reminded me why I do this. Not for the ballroom or the beach — for the feeling of a crowd that came ready to celebrate two people they love.

If you’re planning a destination Indian wedding — beach ceremony, ballroom reception, all of it — this is exactly the kind of story I was made to tell.
