Mentoring with Mona

Learn from the weddings, not just about them

For years, photographers have asked me how I built Sona Photography: the portfolio, the prices, the calm on a wedding day that runs twelve hours and three ceremonies deep. I answered in hallways and inboxes, a few minutes at a time, for free.

Now I am offering that properly. One photographer at a time, one honest hour at a time.

Who this is for

Wedding and portrait photographers who are ready to move up: a stronger portfolio, prices that match the work, and a business that feels steady instead of frantic.

If you are building a South Asian wedding photography business, you are especially welcome here. Almost nobody established is teaching this niche, and it is the work I know best: multi day celebrations, large families, ceremonies layered with meaning, and clients who expect all of it to be honored beautifully.

This is not a course and it is not a group program. It is a conversation with someone who has stood where you are standing.

What one session includes

Every session is sixty minutes, one on one, on a video call, and it is built around your work, not a script.

  • A short questionnaire before we meet. You tell me where you are and where it hurts, so our hour starts at the real problem, not at introductions.
  • A portfolio review. Honest, kind, and specific. What to keep, what to cut, and what to shoot next so the portfolio starts booking the weddings you actually want.
  • Editing feedback. We look at a small set of your images together, and I show you what I see: light, color, and the frames that carry feeling.
  • Business advice in plain language. Pricing, packages, client experience, and the numbers underneath them, explained the way I would want them explained to me.
  • A written action list after. Your next steps, in order, in writing, so the hour keeps working long after the call ends.
  • The recording. Every session is recorded and sent to you, so you can come back to it whenever you need to.

The two ways to work with me

One session: $350
Sixty minutes, one on one. Bring one problem, one portfolio, or one decision you have been circling. You will leave with clear eyes and a written list of what to do next. Half, $175, is due at signing to hold your spot, and the other $175 is due when we start.

Four sessions: $997
Four sixty minute sessions, taken over about ninety days. This is the one I recommend if you want real change: we review the portfolio, rebuild the pricing, and then meet again as you put it into practice, with your action list updated each time and a final review of what has changed. Bought one at a time, four sessions would cost $1,400. The pack is $997. Half, $498.50, is due at signing to hold your spot, and the other $498.50 is due when we start, at our first session.

The pack also carries something the single session does not. During our ninety days, I may invite you to stand beside me at a real wedding as a second photographer, and afterwards you may use the images I personally select for you in your own portfolio. It comes by my invitation, at a wedding I choose, when the wedding allows it, because some weddings are private and their images are never shared. The images I select are yours to show, with credit to Sona Photography, once the couple’s own gallery has been delivered. Everything else from that day stays with Sona Photography.

Four spots a month, and that is all

I take four mentoring clients a month. Not as a sales line, because it is true: my weekends belong to my couples, and this work only stays good if it stays small. When the month’s four spots are gone, the month is closed, and the next month opens on the booking page.

How booking works

  1. Choose one session or the four session pack on the booking page.
  2. Complete the short questionnaire when you book, and pay half at signing to hold your spot. The other half is due when we start.
  3. We meet on video at your scheduled time. Local photographers: ask me about meeting at The Sona Studio instead.
  4. Your recording and written action list arrive after our session.

About your mentor

I am Mona Chaudhry, the photographer behind Sona Photography in Orlando, Florida. I built this business from home while raising four daughters, and it grew into a luxury South Asian wedding practice that travels wherever my couples celebrate.

In 2025 I was named to the DWP Insider Powerlist of the Top 50 Global Wedding Photographers. My weddings have been featured by Maharani Weddings. Those honors matter to me, but what matters more for this page is simpler: I have made the mistakes, learned what they cost, and I can save you some of them.

A quiet word before you book

I will not promise you bookings, income, or a transformed business. Nobody honest can. What I promise is an hour of my real judgment on your real work, and a clear list of what to do next. What you do with it is yours.

Four spots open each month. If one of them has your name on it, I look forward to our hour.
